I’m Kate, and I’m a Stamford newborn photographer. The lovely thing about a newborn shoot in your home environment is that it’s super relaxed. Your baby is familiar with all the sounds and smells, and you’ve got all the muslins and nappies on hand for when you need them.
As a newborn photographer, I recommend setting aside around 2 hours so that you can relax. This means that there’s plenty of time for photos around when your baby needs to sleep and feed.
The photos I’ll capture are natural and relaxed. Some photographers dress babies in outfits and arrange them into poses, and while that’s lovely, I’m all about the real moments and capturing the memories of your ‘every day’ in your home. The only prop we’ll need is that really cute blanket that Granny knitted especially for your little one.
Usually newborn shoots are best booked for when your baby is 2 – 4 weeks old. At this age, they’re usually really sleepy and it helps avoid the ‘baby acne’ stage that can happen at around 6 weeks.
These sleepy babies need to be kept nice and warm, so we will do the entire shoot at your home rather than venture outside. That means lots of cuddles, and lots of photos of the details of your babies’ beautiful, tiny features (and yawns like little Maya here!)
